Tradie Files
Tradie Files: Built for Tradespeople by a Former Tradie
The Inspiration
Tradie Files emerged from a very real frustration I experienced as a full-time electrician. Time and again, I found myself at job sites where critical job information—like images of wiring in walls—was either hard to locate or non-existent. I distinctly remember a particular job where it took over two hours to retrieve essential images from someone’s iCloud. In an industry where time is money, I knew there had to be a better way. Tradie Files was born out of that need for efficiency.
What Tradie Files Does
Tradie Files is a job card and information hub for day-to-day operations, specifically tailored to meet the needs of tradespeople, subcontractors, and employers alike. The platform acts as a centralized location where everyone involved in a job can access vital information, from job addresses and previous notes to material lists and checklists.
The app is designed with the user in mind—the tradesperson who starts their day by checking their job list. With Tradie Files, they can:
See a list of jobs assigned for the day.
Access all job details such as location, images, notes from previous work, material requirements, and job history.
Check off tasks, ensuring nothing gets overlooked.
A Focused Tool, Not an Invoicing App
Tradie Files does not handle invoices or financial data. Instead, it’s focused entirely on the operational side of a tradesperson's workday. With so many apps out there dedicated to billing and payments, I wanted Tradie Files to be a front-of-house product, aimed solely at making on-site work and job management smoother and more efficient.
What’s Next?
With Tradie Files 99% complete, I'm currently working on finalizing payment testing. I’m excited to see how it can make a difference for tradespeople looking for a hassle-free way to manage jobs. As a tool built by a tradie for tradies, I believe it has the potential to become an essential part of the modern tradesperson’s toolkit.
