Yume Food
Yume Food is a trading platform designed to prevent food and produce from going to waste. Here’s how it works:
When an outlet has excess stock, they list it on Yume at a discounted price. Buyers then visit the platform, browse the listings, and make offers on the available stock. The system benefits everyone: sellers move their surplus, buyers get quality products at reduced prices, and less food ends up wasted.
It’s a win-win approach to sustainability, everybody wins.
I joined this project during a UI update aimed at making the platform more user-friendly and visually appealing.
My role included building front-end pages with Vue.js, adding interactive features and creating a smooth experience for users. On the backend, I developed Laravel controllers to manage data effectively, covering everything from data validation to complex calculations. I also contributed to backend elements like the bartering sections, enabling users to negotiate prices based on specific item packaging and pricing conditions.
What did I learn from this?
This project was a great opportunity to sharpen my Vue.js and Laravel skills while tackling complex data interactions with a focus on user needs.
